Los Chapitos Offer Reward for Information on Rival

Amid the internal war between cartels in Sinaloa, Los Chapitos offer $1 million for information on El Comanche, accused of violence. The confrontation has increased violence levels in the state.

Los Chapitos Offer Reward for Information on Rival

In the midst of the internal war faced by the Sinaloa Cartel, the faction led by the sons of Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán, known as Los Chapitos, is offering a reward of one million pesos for information on the whereabouts of Juan Pedro Gómez López, alias El Comanche. This faction accuses El Comanche of working under the orders of El Mayito Flaco, son of Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada, and of being responsible for generating violence in Sinaloa.

In a message disseminated, Los Chapitos stated that their goal is to 'clean Sinaloa of rivals belonging to La Mayiza' and accused El Comanche of 'killing innocents' and causing terror in the state. They affirmed that affiliates of La Mayiza are not welcome in Sinaloa and guaranteed discretion to anyone providing information.

According to El Blog del Narco, El Comanche is identified as the leader of Los Comanches, an armed wing that collaborated with Los Chapitos until 2023, before allying with La Mayiza, the faction of El Mayo Zambada. Currently, El Comanche is the security chief of El Mayito Flaco, who assumed leadership after his father's arrest in July 2024.

The rift between Los Chapitos and La Mayiza has triggered armed confrontations, such as those that occurred on September 9, 2024, when El Comanche allegedly led offensives against Los Chapitos, including blockades, vehicle burnings, and armed attacks in various locations in Sinaloa.

Violence levels in the state of Sinaloa have experienced a notable increase since the internal conflict of the Sinaloa Cartel began. Between September 2024 and January 2025, more than 750 murders and 900 disappearances related to this internal war have been reported, according to data from the State Attorney General's Office.

Los Chapitos have previously resorted to offering rewards to weaken their rivals, such as the case of the reward offered for information about Juan Carlo, alias El Chavo Félix, a key figure of La Mayiza and husband of Teresita Zambada Ortiz, daughter of El Mayo. The dispute for control of the Sinaloa Cartel continues to claim lives and generate instability in the region, as Los Chapitos and La Mayiza attempt to consolidate their power in a landscape of broken alliances and escalating violence.
